My Practice

I understand that it can be hard to know which voice to listen to when looking for support with breastfeeding. Additional support often comes through recommendations. Below are just some of the woman that I have supported over the years. I hope you find their story helpful when looking for additional support in your journey.

If you are unsure about getting additional support or attending a class, just get in contact. I am more than happy to help x

Newborn Baby
Feb 2023: Baby H's Mum

Baby H's Mum attended a Antenatal class, One to one consultations and attended the SLM: Breastfeeding in the Early Days.

"Parental Compass with Laura ha been invaluable in terms of gaining wisdom and professional advise in helping me to deal with the challenges of breastfeeding my first child, alongside troubleshooting other problems that have accompanied (colic and non-sleeping baby).

it has been grate to connect with other mums going from womb to the world and tapping into others breastfeeding experiences.

Laura is a fountain of positive, warmth, non-judgemental, nurturing well informed advise - tapping into her knowledge and understanding has been like a warm, cosy hug when navigating being the stormy waters of being a new mother. "

Jan 2023: Baby M's Mum

M's mum came to me antenatally through the Breastfeeding class that I deliver at Strathblane. Mum had a couple of questions in relation to her specific breastfeeding concerns and wanted to be prepared.  Breastfeeding was important to her and she wanted to give it her best. She understood that for some woman, breastfeeding could be hard.

We met up post session and I was able to talk through her questions. I also supported her postnatally but to be honest,  I did very little. It was obvious that the antenatal knowledge gave her the confidence to get breastfeeding off to a good start. It was amazing and beautiful to see a mum who knew she had challenges, get breastfeeding off to an amazing start. I do believe the knowledge she gained and the questions she asked, gave her the most amazing and calm start to her journey.

"Thank you so much for taking the time to come out this morning. I meant to say that if it hadn't been for your support and advise during my pregnancy, these first few days would have been so stressful. My mum was also impressed that I was well informed and had all the kit to get on with things. Because of my success feeding, baby M has lost less than 5% of their body weight! So thank you from the bottom of my (and Alan's heart."

Sep 2022: Baby Alexander

Alexanders Mum's breastfeeding journey was a little unknown due to breast augmentation. The concern was due to engorgement. From meeting with mum antenatally, we were able to go through information specific to her. The session took place through zoom.

Postnatally, her breastfeeding journey was difficult. Due to a large breast capacity causing engorgement, mum decided that it was too much for her to continue breastfeeding beyond 2 months. Through online support I supported mum to bring down her supply and eventually stop breastfeeding in a healthy way. Breastfeeding is a dyad and the mother element is just as important as the baby for successful and connected breastfeeding journey.

" Thank you for your continued support. Engorgement has reduced dramatically and I can now hug or burp Alexander without it hurting. Happy mum, happy baby".
